Why league schedules fall apart in spreadsheets
A schedule is not a grid of team names. It is a set of constraints: even game counts, gym or field slots, padding between games, divisions that should not cross, and a public page that updates when you reschedule.
Leagzr is a Canadian sports league management platform for amateur and recreational sports. Scheduling is built into the same product as registration and standings: generate round-robin pairings per division, then place them on game days you configure (daily, weekly, or monthly cadence). That is scheduling software attached to the rest of the league, not an isolated generator.
What the generator does
- Pair every team in a division against the others (circle method, first team fixed).
- Respect divisions so rec and competitive pools stay separate.
- Place games into slots with duration and between-game padding.
- Repeat the round-robin if you ask for more game days than a single pass.
- Feed completed games into standings and optional playoff brackets.
Publishing is the feature
The schedule only works if players can find it. Leagzr publishes to the league website automatically. Combine that with venues and maps so the 6:30 game is not “gym TBD” in a chat thread.
